D you’re Dependable – The Dependable Drive In – Coraopolis PA

Hard to believe that the official summer season is winding down with the all too soon appearance of Labor Day Weekend. This doesn’t mean the fun has to end! You can still go to the drive in movies at the Dependable Drive In in Coraopolis PA, just outside of Pittsburgh.

Dependable Drive In Movies

Opened in 1950, the Dependable Drive in has 4 screens so you can have your choice of what movie to see. It can get crowded during Friday and Saturday nights, but has a much more relaxed atmosphere the other nights of the week.

Their refreshment stand sells the standard popcorn, candy, ice cream but also has some more interesting selections like funnel cake, corn dogs and for a limited time meatball hoagies!

Though Dependable sounds more like the name of a drycleaner to me, I think that what must make this place dependable is that it is open year ’round (according to their website). If anyone goes here in the middle of the winter, please let me know how it goes!

The Dependable is set back aways from the main road, and you don’t see the marquee until you’ve turned into the driveway (look at me! I’ve turned into a driveway!) so be on the lookout for the entrance sign- it’s hard to miss:
