Happy New Year!

Just a quick note to say Thank You to everyone who has stopped by Retro Roadmap, posted comments, offered suggestions and shared information about cool old places to visit. I’m looking forward to 2010 being a swell year for Retro Roadmap and am excited by the fact that there seem to be plenty of places still to feature, explore and discover!

I hope you’ve found the information here handy and informative- or at least somewhat entertaining- and that The Retro RoadMAP has helped you travel to a place you might not have known how to get to before.
OK then! 2009 and the crazy holiday season is now behind us, I’ve got a couple of days off from work and will be doing some nesting here at the Hacienda, and I can’t wait to jump back into the world of Retro Roadmap.

Happy New Year to all of you, from all of me!
-Beth / Mod Betty

Oh, it will almost certainly be warm 🙂 Check out Flamingo Gardens, http://www.flamingogardens.org. Very cool little place that still has a lot of old time appeal. There’s a private museum called the Fort Lauderdale Antique Car museum, http://antiquecarmuseum.org. The building itself is probably from the 40’s, and it’s stuffed with antique Packards, auto memorabilia and all kinds of collectibles. If you make it down as far as Miami, Monkey Jungle still pretty much looks like it did in the 50s, and of course there is Coral Castle and the South Beach Art Deco District. Let me know when you’re down here, maybe we can meet up at the Mai Kai (It’s only 20 minutes from where I live)

ooh! great stuff, and thanks! I made RRH promise that we could go to the Mai Kai even though it’s a drive of a few hours from where we’re staying, as I’ve always wanted to check it out. I figure it’s like us driving from here to Rehoboth Beach or NYC which we seem to do all the time so it shouldn’t be a bad drive. Very much looking forward to it, and will let you know of our plans as we get them firmed up!
