Vintage Silent Movie Posters Exhibit, Barnegat NJ – Opening Reception June 19

A chance visit to Unshredded Nostalgia in Barnegat NJ, left me with not only a great place to feature in an upcoming post, but information about their vintage silent movie poster exhibit, with an opening reception this Saturday June 19th from 5-7pm.

I got a sneak peek at some of these posters (not pictured) and was amazed at the fabulous vintage graphics and design, the surprisingly bright colors and their excellent condition -  it was as if they were brand new!

His Superficial WifeThey can explain it better than I could:

Barnegat, NJ—Unshredded Nostalgia, New Jersey’s only metropolitan-style poster gallery showcasing original movie, television and stage posters announces a rare poster exhibit featuring the era of silent movies. The exhibit titled “Gems of the Silent Screen Revisited,” opens to the public on June 19, 2010, with an opening night gala reception from 5-7 PM.

Over 50 one-of-a-kind and rarely seen silent movie posters from 1914-1930 will be on display. Some of the posters include Mark Twain’s “ A Connecticut Yankee”, Marion Davis in “Yolanda” Norma Talmadge in “Going Straight ”and Mack Sennett in “The Lion and the Souse”. Also featured will be such stars as: Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, Lillian Gish and Tom Tyler.

“We are delighted that our gallery was chosen to display The “Gems of the Silent Screen Revisited” exhibit,”
says owner and silent movie buff Jim Episale. “While major museums have displayed silent movie posters, gallery showings are quite unique. We have been fortunate to house a number of diverse poster exhibits. We are pleased to add this exhibit to our repertoire.
