Since today is our wedding anniversary (9 years!) I was reminiscing about ways we had celebrated this day in years past when it occurred to me to share one of the most fab ways – at the wonderfully cool Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, CA. We spent a glorious long weekend at this historic Hollywood hotel and will never forget it!
Built in 1927, this getaway for the stars is hidden in the hills and ivy on Sunset Boulevard, and if you weren’t looking for it you would not find it. Built originally to be apartments, it is famous for the notables who have lived, partied, and sometimes died there. Here’s just a short list of the famous folks who have walked the floors of Chateau Marmont, and now we can say we were there too!
The lobby was tres elegant in that Old Hollywood way-
And thanks to RetroRoadhusband winning a jingle contest, we were where the elite meet!
Our room- and all of the rooms – have been wonderfully renovated to give the feeling of being in vintage Hollywood. And we couldn’t have been happier about it!
Period tilework in the bathrooms- wonder who else besides me luxuriated in a bubble bath in the deep porcelain tub?
Or scrambled an egg at the vintage stove?
Or simply delighted in the vintage and retro decor- like RetroRoadhusband and I did!
What a great opportunity for RetroRoadhusband to write a hit tune!
I have to say that without being there on someone else’s dime, this place is way out of our RetroRoadbudget. But it was a once in a lifetime event that I made every effort to savor the entire time we were there. If you ever get the opportunity to visit, it’s like stepping back into Old Hollywood, glamor and all.
