I’m in a Holiday Mood – Chocolate For Breakfast, 5 & 10 Shopping and Blow Mold Xmas Decorations!

Posted on: December 3, 2011

Hey gang – I know I should be chaining myself to the desk and write about the loads of places we’ve been recently (Buffalo NY! The Jello Museum! Dinosaur Land!) – but I just had some chocolate covered bacon from the newly opened but wonderfully old school Shane Confectionery in Philadelphia and I’m all hepped up on sugary goodness and holiday spirit.

Shane Confectionery Philadelphia PA - Non pareilsRetro Roadhusband and I devoured the delicious chocolate drenched pork morsels too quickly to photo, so we “had to” open up the nonpareils to shoot for the site. Right? 😉 I immediately dubbed them NOM-pareils!

So yes – while I should be knuckling and buckling down, I’ll instead be heading to one of my absolute fave old places at the holiday season for shopping, and looking forward to sharing it with you.

AND we recently acquired some new / old Christmas decorations from a nice old lady and I’m sure I’ll share how the decking of the Hacienda is going too.
Blow Mold Snow Man Box - EmpireSo come along for the ride – or go and seek out some old school, local, downtown, authentic, wonderful place to spend your Saturday – and I promise to share with everyone every tasty vintage morsel I discover today!

OMG! OMG! Shane’s! A blast from the past! A wonderful memory from a former lifetime. May I speak for the aunts/uncles/cousins/school chums/neightbors/nuns/priests/the ‘hood (the south philly ‘hood) who lovingly savored and shared the variety of confections Shane Confectionery was (is again!) famous for. What a great shout out, Mod Betty…..thanks.

    • EP – I’ve got some great photos and details about the reopening of this historic Philly candy store – just you wait!
