I HAVE to recommend the Artcraft Theatre in Franklin, IN. It’s a 1922 Art Deco theatre with a lobby full of neon and memories.

We show classic movies every other weekend (sometimes every week) and make the best popcorn around as it is grown locally.
At our night shows, we have a skit before the movie entitled “Short Attention Span Theatre”, a prize drawing, long distance award for whoever travels the farthest and we also show a cartoon before each film and sing the National Anthem.
We are extremely family friendly, run on volunteer power (we’re owned by Franklin Heritage, a local non-profit group) and pride ourselves on making our movies more of an event and not just a film. Oh, & we show our movies on 35mm film whenever possible! It’s truly like taking a step back in time.
We’re about 20 minutes south of Indianapolis off of I-65.
Hope your readers can join us sometime!
Popcorn grown locally, live skits? long distance awards? You folks have some great ideas!
Thank you Jaime, for making the Artcraft the first entry on the Indiana Retro Roadmap!

I’m visiting in Lafayette IN and highly recommend the XXX Family Restaurant, home of XXX Root Beer – if you ever get a chance to hit up the area again (or are visiting Purdue University). Great little old town with lots of retro charm while keeping the mainstream stuff out on the highways.
