Bergin’s Chocolates – Family Run Since 1935! Lansdale PA Look For The Red Sign on Morris Road

Posted on: May 4, 2017

I’d’ve been caught by the witch like Hansel and Gretel since I eagerly pulled my car into what looked like someone’s home driveway, simply because there was a sign out front indicating chocolate ahead!

But lucky for all of us, instead I found the nice folks Bergin’s Chocolates candy shop.
This family run business started in the kitchen of the house on busy Morris Street in 1935 and is open year round every day (except Sundays and holidays.)

If the neon Open sign is glowing, come on in. You’ll most likely find one of the Bergin family behind the counter ready to help you. Behind them is where the chocolates have been hand made since 1940, when the business expanded out of the home kitchen and into this simple white structure out back.

Mike Snyder, whose grandparents started the business notes that they use much of the same vintage machinery to mix and cool their candies, including giant copper kettles and marble slabs. They use only the best chocolate for their dipped and molded candies, and ensure everything is fresh.

Famous for their buttercreams and chocolate covered pretzels, the small shop can be bustling during the holidays. And remember to bring a cooler if you’re not planning on eating your treats immediately! Fresh chocolate means it melts easily in hot cars.

For those of you who are not fans of chocolate (rumor has it there are some of you out there-!) they offer a variety of fruit and sour flavored pectin-based candies. Even if you can’t have a piece of candy at all, stop in and buy a greeting card! You’ll be happy you supported this decades old family business.

They’ve got a Bergin’s Chocolates Facebook Page – show ’em some online apreciation after you stop by!
