Please welcome Arkansas to the RetroRoadmap stable of stars, with the inclusion of these two stop-and-photo worthy vintage signs from the TX / AR border town of Texarkana!

Bottle Shop Cold Beer Liquor Vintage Sign

We had hoped to make a longer stop in Arkansas during our 1-day 12-hour drive from Austin, TX to Memphis, TN, but we had to make do with this short jaunt down Route 71, which is seriously right on the border between 2 states. One side of the road is Texas, the other side is Arkansas.
Texarkana!

Luckily these cheery vintage signs fell on the AR side of the street, where the sun was shining and we also got some good thrifting in (I’ll show you my quilt in an upcoming post!)

Holiday Bowl Vintage Sign Texarkana AK(Note the Arkansas flag on the utility pole)

Wish we could have spent more time Arkansas (which I keep on trying to abbreviate as if we were in AlasKa instead of ARkanas) but glad we were able to catch these cool signs while we were there!

  • Both of those are cooler than cool!

    • I was psyched to find them and am very pleased with how the photos came out. I’ve got a photo show coming up and I think they might make the cut!

  • A couple of real beauties. They’re Texar-uncanny!

How fun! While searching thru the Austin, Texas tag I came across Texarkana! Texarkana is where all the small towns surrounding go to to eat and well as you can see, get liquor and bowl! I live in New Boston (20 minutes away) so I was pleasantly surprised to see the little city I go to all week on a retro website!

(PS, inside the holiday bowl on the countertops is a fabulous turquoise atomic print… I go bowling there every couple of weeks!)

    • Lauren- thanks for swinging by Retro Roadmap! So happy to hear the counters inside the bowling alley are as cool as that sign. We didn’t spend nearly enough time in your neck of the woods, as we were racing against time to get to places, but so glad I could represent what we found. Hoping to do more cross country traveling soon, if the budget and time off allotment allows. Have a swell day!
