December 15, 2009 – MYSTERY UPDATE! Like silver ships that vanish in the night, I drove past the location that housed all of these trailers and THEY’RE ALL GONE! They must’ve been beamed up to their mothership of coolness. How does one move multiple trailers at the same time? The mind boggles. Much like the cool signs up the road that are also no longer there, BOY am I glad I got out of my camera to take photos of these things, or else I’d be kicking myself, big time!
Hello Retro Roadmap Readers! Thought this roadside find might be of interest to you with its vintage travel, retro vacation kind of vibe.
I’ve driven past this house a few times and finally screwed up enough courage to call the owner to ask about his collection of cool old vintage trailers. He has an Airstream for sale (not pictured) and might be interested in selling some of these, if the price was right. They are in varying degrees of being restored, but if you’re like me you can squint your eyes and just picture how fabulous each one would be when they are all fixed up.
Like puppies in a pet store, I wanted to take them all home. Wanna start a Shady Dell PA anyone?! 🙂
More photos can be seen on the Retro Roadmap Flickr Group Page– have a look and submit your photos too!
(And if you think you’d want to seriously buy one of these, email me and I’ll give you the phone #)
