Retro Roadhusband and I are pretty much the only kids in our house, so it took a while for us to discover what a cool Retro Roadmap worthy movie Cars is.
I SO want to stay at the Cozy Cone Motel!
For those of you who haven’t seen the movie- give it a shot the next time you’re in the mood for some pixilated Route 66 inspired fun, and a touching story about the changing roads and times in the US. It was great to see all the places in “Radiator Springs” that paid homage to real life Retro Roadmap worthy places along the Mother Road, Route 66.
I was gonna post about this movie soon, as we finally got to see it when hanging out with the Retro Roadkids over Easter weekend but just had to bump it up when I found this cool “Route 66 Guide to Cars The Movie” courtesy of Route 66 News, showing all of the people and places that inspired this cute little town and it’s characters . I thought this was so cool I just had to leap over to WordPress so I could share this neat find with everyone!
I’ll sign off now so I can indulge myself in catching up on the stories behind this family road trip inspiring movie.
And another neat thing? I found the link to the Route 66 Guide on the Facebook page of The Historic Wagon Wheel Motel in Cuba, Missouri – check them out too, and thank’em for the link!

I feel obligated to inform readers that the Wagon Wheel Motel is in Missouri, not Montana. We’re planning on staying a night there next month.

April 13, 2010 at 9:04 pmWhoops, my bad with the state- I’ve corrected it in the post- I was in such a tizz to get the info out before I had to leave the house for the evening!
Let us know how your Wagon Wheel stay is, crossing my fingers it turns out well, so we can put it on the Retro Roadmap!
