Which reminds me …. a few years ago my dad bought me a “Cat’s Meow” wooden replica of something that you posted very recently. I’ll have to copycat your idea above and show it to you later this year 🙂
I’ve got a few Cat’s Meows but try not to go too overboard with them- like anything else to collect it can get out of hand pretty easily. Funny thing, I got a number of them from my mother!
It was pretty easy to get this photo since not only did we just buy the lil store IN Freda’s little store, but Retro Roadhusband was kind enough to hold it while I snapped the quick photo with my phone.
Freda seems to be doing well, up at 4am, listening to the news at 5am, and still on the ball. A number of friendly folks came in while we were buying our snacks and chatting and she was nice enough to show us some photos of her husband as a barker on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, as well as some photos of him in the war. Such a sweet lady!
Yep, it doesn’t really go with my “decor”; I’ve had it wrapped up in a drawer since I got it … but it does remind me of my Dad and the fact that he picked a building that has a meaning for me 🙂
I remember your story about her earlier in the year. What a treasure!
I know what you mean about the decor- I somewhat solved that by perching them atop a doorway inside the “Retro Roadmap Office” – that was I can see them, they go with the theme, but they’re not really sticking out much. I put a little “fun tak” behind each one so they don’t fall onto someone’s head either!
