Here at Retro Roamdap HQ I get the occasional SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope, for those of you who didn’t grow up watching ZOOM) but today’s note has super-surpassed all of those!
It reads:
Dear Mod Betty,
My name is L______ and I am a 13 year old boy who is an antique and vintage collector since I was five. My mother and I travel all over the east coast finding “cool retro places worth visiting!”
Your website has been so helpful when we plan our trips. I always look forward to see your swell new postings. It’s been great fun following you, and if I find some retro worthy places for you to visit I’ll send them your way.
Isn’t that the most wonderful, sweetest thing? Written in cursive, on an “up-cycled” vintage card – which is part of L______’s collection:
I can’t tell you how much it means to me to know that just by sharing this wacky stuff that I love to do, that it’s helping other folks out there have their own Vintage Adventures! And much like me being Auntique Beth to the Retro Roadkids, I love it when I feel like a younger generation “gets” how cool some of these neat old places are, and cool old things.
AND the fact that Retro Roadmap is helping to make great memories to last a lifetime, as L and his mom go out Retro Roadmapping? Oh, my heart is full!
Don’t worry, I’ll be sending L_____ his mom D____ (who sent along her own note letting me know it was OK’d by her that he send the letter) a Retro Roadmap funpack, and if I could bundle up a hug to go along with, that’s included too!
🙂

February 2, 2013 at 12:13 pmHow cute! Its great that kids are into retro and vintage. My kids love traveling with me everywhere. And he is correct, your site is a good source of information and whenever I am heading out of town, I check to see if you have anything posted for the place I will be visiting!
