NOT Good News! Seaside Heights Carousel CLOSED DOWN [2019 UPDATE]

April 2019:

Casino Pier Carousel in Seaside, Jersey Shore icon, to shut down.

“People can take a final spin on the Casino Pier Carousel this Saturday and Sunday before the amusement ride will be disassembled in preparation for its future relocation to the north end of the boardwalk.

But whether the carousel will ever be turned on again depends on whether money can be found to refurbish it, borough officials said.”

2014:Thanks to a tip from a Retro Roadmap FB page reader, I was reminded to share the good news:

The historic carousel in Seaside Heights NJ will not go up for auction, but instead remain in tact and in Seaside Heights!

According to a report posted just moments ago at CBS New York, the borough will take possession of the Carousel, which has been a local landmark since 1932.

Good job Seaside Heights!
