Even though she’s too busy to begin with, Mod Betty is following through on an idea she’s had for far too long:
The Retro Roadmap Roadbook series!
My plan is to create one for each state, and thanks to the modern convenience of online self-publishing services, I figure that can keep me busy for the next 50 years or so 😉
Here’s the thing I think is so cool: These old-school printed-on-paper books all start out all the same; but then YOU have room to make it your own.
Once you add your memories and finds, it becomes YOUR personal travelogue, documenting the cool vintage places you’ve visited and discovered in each state, and the fun you had doing it!
Delaware is on her way to the printers, and you will be able to buy your copy here on RetroRoadmap.com, via paypal or in real life in a variety of shops and events. Then look forward to more states added to the collection soon (I’m eying up the New States next (NEW England, NEW York, NEW Jersey ;-))
I figured the longer I wait to document these cool vintage places, the fewer there will be, so I better get started now, before there are none left!

September 10, 2016 at 5:47 pmThank you, Uncle Atom! I realize I better start this project sooner rather than later because “They don’t make old places anymore, so once one is gone, it’s gone!” (Mod Betty 2016) 🙂

Thank you for your blog. I have been a retro head for over thirty years and I have lived in a time warp ever since. One of my older children lives out of state and thanks to you we have discovered Sines 5 & 10. This older one and our youngest share the same birthday eight years apart. We celebrated by having lunch at Sines and flea marketing at Q-Mart. My birthday was the week before and I could not have asked for a happier occasion of vintage and family! Even our Chihuahua came along in his stroller (he is so quiet no one even notices him). I will look for the Delaware book and hopefully there will be one for PA soon. Thank you again!

Thank you for the sweet note! As I always say, Retro Roadmap is a labor of love for me, so it means a lot when I know I’m connecting with people, and they’re digging what I’m doing.
Sounds like you had a great birthday!
I am so very much looking forward to making the Pennsylvania book – I may need to take some time off work to do it since it’s such a big chockablock full state, but I’m Staunchly Determined to make this a reality 🙂
