The Tonga Room at the Fairmont Hotel San Francisco since 1945!

We finally got to to Happy Hour at the Tonga Room at San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel and it was a Mod Betty Milestone, let me tell you!

We waited in line beneath that red sign long before they opened, scurried for a table as soon as the door opened and then started snapping photos of this famous (since 1945!) tiki bar.

And drinking tiki drinks of course!

You can eat dinner here if you like...

Next to the pool with a floating raft for the band!

Just be careful that you don't get caught in the fake rainstorm that happens there!

There were a lot of us there, so service took a while - but heck - who doesn't mind hanging out basking in the glow of such a historic tiki bar?

Especially knowing that they came thisclose to almost doing away with it!
The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco is a lovely historic hotel in its own right, so if you have the time and funds, by all means do it up and stay there.

But if you are short on time like we were, make sure you at least visit the Tonga Room. Aloha!
