When Mod Betty went to visit her grandmother in New Hampshire, she was thrilled when her uncle suggested we head out to lunch at the Miss Wakfield Diner. So was Gram! 97 years young, she still enjoys getting out of the house that she and the family moved to almost 60 years ago.
The Miss Wakefield is an O'Mahoney diner, built in 1949, and currently guarded by a giant wooden moose! Moved to this location in 1991 it has been wonderfully restored and is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.
The interior is classic clean New England diner. Not too much in the way of faux vintage flair, which is just how Mod Betty likes it. Simple, clean, unpretentious. Like New England herself!
The menu included classic diner fare. Mod Betty had her go-to "fave sandwich in the world" the BLT, and Gram enjoyed her cup of chili.
We're not much of a picture-posing family, but I could not resist getting a snapshot with Grammie in a diner. It is not often when worlds collide like this. So next time you visit your fam, see if they want to go out to a vintage diner - you never know!
