Hello and welcome! I’m Beth Lennon (aka Mod Betty) and I created Retro Roadmap to help you easily discover the “cool vintage places” that have stood the test of time while still retaining their authentic charm. (Grand)mom and (grand)pop shops, diners, theaters, downtowns, motels and events that give you that stepped back in time feeling as soon as you step inside.

It is my hope that by all of us becoming aware of these hidden gems – at home or while traveling – we can visit and have fun, while also helping them to survive. Every little bit helps!

Beth Lennon is the creator of Retro Roadmap, the online resource that highlights cool vintage places, good eats and retro fun! Writing and presenting as Mod Betty, Lennon travels the US, visiting mom and pop businesses that have stood the test of time while retaining their authentic vintage charm. Sharing these discoveries with her readers and social followers, she inspires them to go out and visit these places and the places that are important to them, before they disappear.

Combining her degree in art history and passions for photography and roadtripping, Lennon has documented the disappearing roadside for decades. She has been featured on the front page of the Boston Globe Sunday Travel Section, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Huffington Post, WHYY-TV, WLVT-TV and interviewed by the BBC, AARP, Hidden City Philadelphia, Inside Jersey and House Beautiful to name a few. She has written for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Society for Commercial Archeology and has a regular feature in Vintage Camper Trailers magazine.

Additionally she publishes a series of printed Retro Roadmap Roadbook travel guides that double as road trip journals. Featuring her favorite vintage and retro destinations in each state, these Roadbooks are not only packed with historic information and travel tips, but also include checklists and places for readers to add their own memories, creating a one-of-a-kind keepsake of fun had.

When not on the road you can often find her researching her next adventure seated inside her vintage 1964 camper – in the town where they filmed The Blob!
