Some things never change...like Mod Betty's fondness for Al's Diner in Chicopee, MA:-)
Mod Betty at Al's Diner circa 2015:
Mod Betty at Al's Diner circa 1994 - talk about #TBT!
We don't make it out to Western Mass a lot, but my fave diner in the area is Al's conveniently located just 2 miles off of the Mass Pike Chicopee exit. A classic stainless steel diner built in 1957 by the Master Diner company of Pequannock, NJ it was first known as the White Diner before changing to Al's in 1962 (according to Al's menu.)
And speaking of menu - 2 things featured on Al's sign and menu keep Mod B digging this place - Ham, and Meat Pie!
LOOK AT HOW BIG THAT HAM IS!
The ham at Al's diner is so famous, someone even CROCHETED them one - with slices and everything!
You can get standard diner food - and breakfast all day at Al's - served 7 days a week.
Classic New England diner, no frills just good food.
You know what I love about this photo? Besides the fact that not much has changed in the 20+ years since I first discovered Al's?
There were 2 uniformed service people in the booth near the door, and they were smiling and waving as I snapped this photo, and I could not help but think that if they were fighting to defend the American Way, that way would include a classic diner like Al's :-)
