When you visit Andy's Igloo come hungry because you'll want to get both a meal and dessert!
Opened in 1951, Andy's embraces its 1950's roots by playing up the cheery aqua and red color palette of their sign inside in their dining room.
There's counter seating in the adjacent space and even a takeout window, so sit where you like - inside or in your car!
Always looking for something regional, offbeat or unique on a menu we spied the Steakette.
The Number one choice of many patrons - 1/3lb char-broiled beef, thick and juicy
If that wasn't enough we were enticed by the following:
"Lean western beef for flavor, dressed as you like...to suit your taste. Choice of dressing and seasonings: Relish, onion, pickles, Catsup, mustard, mayonnaise, cole slaw"Lettuce, cheese and or tomato can be also added for just a few cents more. (Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us...
I had hoped to save room for dessert by not ordering a "basket", which means your sandwich comes with fries and cole slaw (but, disclaimer, I shared Retro Roadhusband's crinkle-cut fries.)
Doesn't this look delish? And it was! So much so that sadly I did not have room for dessert, which is unfortunate, since the Andy's Igloo Facebook page shows all sorts of ice cream delights.
Any Retro Renovators know what pattern that formica counter is? I'm digging it!
Andy's is open for breakfast as well, their humorous menu also has other things besides burgers (salads, fish, ham, soup, chicken) but if you're a carnivore, the Steakette is the way to go!
