While Mod Betty is partial to the Colonial Theatre in her hometown, she's also tickled to know that there are more "in the family" - like the Colonial Theater in Belfast, Maine.
So when Retro Roadmap Reporter Louis I. snapped a few shots of this vintage movie house for Retro Roadmap, and wrote up a nice little bit (below) about the theatre, we thought that would be a logical addition to Retro Roadmap.
Neither he nor Mod B knew at that time however,
that the Belfast Maine movie theater was for sale!
"This rearranging of the Colonial’s caretakers is not an emergency. Business is good and our health is good.
We fully expect it to take a good deal of time to find the right people and we’re not in a rush."
If you're interested in being the next caretaker of this cultural landmark, here's the real estate listing for the theatre. If not for you, then share the info - let's do what we can to make sure this place is in good hands for the future! xo Mod B Here's what Retro Roadmap Reporter Louis I. has to say about this Retro Roadmap worthy location:
The Colonial Theater, Belfast ME -
by Retro Roadmap Reporter Louis I.
The Colonial Theater is a beautifully restored movie theater in downtown Belfast on the Maine Coast.
The current theater was built in 1924 after the original one which was built in 1912 was completely destroyed by fire. The Art Deco inspired façade was put up in 1947.
Today the small 3 screen theater hosts Hollywood feature films along with International and indie films as well.
The theater features a large elephant statue atop their roof...and one in their basement-!
This auditorium was used for many decades for live performances.
The basement lobby houses the theater's archives such as old movie posters of past shows.
If you're in Belfast, stop by this historic movie house!
