Blobfest is Back – Beware of THE BLOB! [Where They Filmed It!]

Regular (and irregular!) Retro Roadmap Readers know how fond Mod B is of her transplanted "hometown" of Phoenixville PA, with its classic downtown movie theater The Colonial - made famous in the 1958 movie...THE BLOB! Well another great thing about this town is its creative sense of fun - hence Blobfest - a weekendlong celebration of that campy classic film starring Steve McQueen, a red gelatinous menace and many local filming locations. Want to pretend you're being chased out of the theatre like the meta-moviegoers within the movie? We're no Pamplona but I like to call this event the Running of The Blob: (If you want to be a runnER the tix sold out within minutes, but my fave event is watching everyone make the most of their 5 seconds of fame while running out.) There's a Saturday street fair with hotrods, rockabilly music and vendors. Of COURSE you can see the movie The Blob on the big screen, as well as a double feature of other vintage sci-fi movies, and you can even meet the actual Blob in person!
