I was just there a few weeks ago! Love their pastrami reuben and their cabbage rolls — yum! And of course the delicious cookies….
A little tip: send your husband to The Golden State across the street from Canter’s if he wants to have a delicious burger! And the potato salad there is to DIE for!
Ah Canter’s, many years ago it introduced me to lox and bagels (yum). Did you get across the street to ‘Out of the Closet” too? You never know what’s going to turn up there. BTW–If you ever get a chance to wander around SoCal again, I suggest going over the hill to Glendale, Billy’s deli there should be on your ‘must eat’ list: http://www.billysdeli.com/.

November 30, 2012 at 1:21 pmOne of my favorite places in LA. That shot of the dining room is beautiful. PLUS, it is a great place for celebrity sightings!!! We sat next to Leonardo DiCaprio and Giselle Bundchen when they were an item. Next time you’re in town be sure to check out Langer’s too; they don’t have the same jours but they have been in business since ’47 and their pastrami is pretty magnificent! Sorry that you couldn’t join RRH this weekend but it is raining so you’re not missing too much!

November 30, 2012 at 1:29 pmMr. T! Always a pleasure to hear from you my dear! Thanks for the Langers’ tip, I’ll put it on our list for next time – because there has to be a next time 🙂
As an aside – Retro Roadhusband sent me a photo of the rain when he safely landed. I told him it’s raining because I’M NOT THERE WITH HIM! 🙂
