While Mod Betty definitely concentrates on the authentic old vintage places, she occasionally comes across some businesses that, despite their youth, show an enthusiasm for an earlier era. And in a place like Wildwood, when that era is the exuberant 1950s Cool Scoops Springs to Mind:
Opened in 2002, Cool Scoops is a retro pop culture explosion. Owner Paul Russo’s doo wop inspired ice cream shop is a sight, sound, and flavor to behold. Thousands of 1950s toys, records, autographs and more cover every wall. While 50’s music plays in the background, ice cream sundaes, cones, shakes are the taste of the day. Open seasonally, get your order at the counter and make a beeline to the booths made out of the backsides of 1950s cars - photo op time! Folks of all ages will be able to happily walk down memory lane, thanks to Paul’s enthusiastic collecting.
