Daisy Restaurant – Fall into Wind Gap PA

2017 Update!

Mod B is always overjoyed to report that pretty much barely anything has changed since a last visit, and our recent trip to the Daisy is no exception!

We were here over the weekend and I am happy to report that with the exception of that white "Family Fast Food Restaurant" being absent, the place is still cute despite its dark brown exterior, our burgers were tasty (baby Daisy with cheese please!) AND....THE PAYPHONE STILL WORKS! Get there now and make a call!

It was a gloomy day when I made my way to the Daisy Family Restaurant in Wind Gap PA, but ,my visit here and Daisy burger certainly was a bright spot!

The Daisy opened in 1958 as a seasonal ice cream stand but now it's open year round, and offers more than just fast food. I had been introduced to The Daisy by my swell pals Aubs&Jon who knew it was a Retro Roadmap worthy addition to my roadtrip destinations.

And though I took the winding back roads to get here, I was glad to see that the Daisy is such an easy place to get to from Route 33 (between interstates 80 and 76) so folks flying by on the freeway have no excuse not to stop.

And once inside this little restaurant you'll see that the place is fresh and clean as a daisy - look at those floors just gleam!

The Daisy's menu has all sorts of interesting items that you would not normally find on a fast food menu - homemade soup, turkey barbecue, tuna salad, fried chicken, ice cream, but I had my stomach set on a gargantuan Daisy Burger. And fries of course!

This gargantuan burger comes with lettuce, tomato and cheese if you please. I wish I had room for ice cream afterwards - it's at times like this when Retro Roadhusband and His Auxiliary Stomach come in handy!

I know that this place is one of those "lets just hop in the car and drive and see what we find along the way and this will be our destination even though the drive itself is kinda like the destination" so I know we'll be back soon.

Especially because I found some other, unexpected Retro Roadmap worthy places in the area (thinking of a Retro Roadmap Roundup...!) like the Gap Theatre, just up the street. Neon, pink stucco and rounded windows- can I move in please?!

Though I didn't have the opportunity to stop and fully explore this theatre, Cinema Treasures tells me that it was built in 1947 and has a single curved screen. And I was charmed when I read a Google Reviewer say, "I went there as a child, and now I take my grandson" - that's the kinda place we love!

So get off the highway and stop in Wind Gap PA, you'll thank yourself that you did.
