The neon signs at the Eet Gud Bakery are what drew Mod Betty to this 90+ year old shop, but their delicious baked treats have her returning any time she’s even vaguely in the area. An easy ½ mile from 295 and open 7 days a week, don’t be surprised if you find this becoming a regular detour for your morning coffee and baked good or deli sandwich.
Opened in 1928 by the Schaffener family, the bakery - directly across from Nottingham High School - had been owned by the family up until January 2018. Now it is under the capable direction of new owner Tracey Destribats, who much to our delight, has changed very little at this local landmark.
The signs flanking the building and perched on the corner now all glow happily after dusk, the bakery is open on Mondays, and they now have a deli section offering custom made sandwiches and sides that you can eat in the bakery or at the picnic tables out in their back meadow.
However, if you ARE in the mood for a donut, muffin, cookie, cupcake, breads, or pretty much any baked treat (and who isn’t?) Mod Betty recommends their Glazed Twists. A pretzel shaped “donut” they only make a limited number of them each day so call ahead to “hosey” one so you are not disappointed when you arrive. Paired with their local Grovers Mills coffee, (or a Diet Coke in Mod Betty fashion) you’ll be hooked on this sweet spot!
Feeling adventurous? Try your sandwich on a split donut!
Plenty of parking, so no reason not to pull over any day
They open at 6am every day but Monday - get there early for best selection!
