Mod Betty has been remiss in sharing Holstens, which is silly because it is one of her favorite "let's get off of the danged highway now" stops when driving along the Garden State Parkway. Seriously, I've taken my niece there, visited my dear pal Aubs there, it's a gem.
But enough of my excusing, here it is!
Holsten's Ice Cream Parlor in Bloomfield NJ has been open day and night since 1939.
Just a quick exit off of the Garden State Parkway brings you to this corner luncheon that has booth and table service, ice cream, sandwiches, burgers, candy, fries and more!
I'm partial to a BLT with crinkle cut fries, but I always leave room for an ice cream sundae:
And you KNOW I have a special place in my Retro Roadheart for places called Luncheons /Lunches / Luncheonettes. Swoon :-)
So don't dilly dally like I did in spreading the news. Next time you're on the Garden State Parkway, stop by Holsten's - it's a sweet spot!
