2017 Update: While Jimmy John's did suffer a fire right before their anniversary a few years ago, I'm happy to report that once they reopened little else has changed at this cute eatery! The trains are running, the dogs have snap, and it's still a destination for kids of all ages.
Original 2009 Post:
Not to be confused with a recent addition to the sandwich scene with the same name, Jimmy John’s has been serving hot dogs and milkshakes to weary travelers in Chester County PA since 1940.
AND they have the photos of their customers to prove it!
And the special hot dogs. And the train memorabilia. And the nostalgia of a roadside fast food place before McDonald's.
The hot dogs are the draw, though the special dogs with the snappy casing may be a shock to some who are used to supermarket weiners.Order at the counter, find a place to eat in a wooden booth or table. Put on whatever toppings you desire (mustard, relish, onions, sauerkraut) on your dog, but make sure you don’t heap it on your tray please!
There are other items on the menu if you're not a dog fan, including burgers, cheesesteaks, soups and chili. But if you're a dog fan, you gotta try their special hot dogs at least once.
As you eat, feel good at the fact that even though your photo might not be on the wall, you are now part of the history of Jimmy John's, and your mealtime money helps keep this and places like this around!
