The Retro Roadmap Universe was looking after Mod Betty when we were driving down Route 90, north of Madison Wisconsin. We had to put gas in the tour van and randomly picked an exit that had a Shell station just off the highway.
I'm being completely serious when I say we had NO IDEA that the station we chose to stop at had a GIANT PINK ELEPHANT - wearing GLASSES living there!
And of course after we filled up the tank we snapped a photo!
According to the sign next to Pinkie, he/she? has been here since the 1960s. Produced by Sculptured Advertising in Sparta Wisconsin, Pinkie was originally in front of the Pink Elephant Supper Club in Marquette Iowa.
So next time you're looking to fill your tank, see if there's a pink pachyderm next to the pumps!
