Located just off Interstate 45 in Houston, TX it's been a landmark since 1967.

When we entered the Dot I was a bit let down at the interior decor, I admit. It was clean and all, but it was brown, and sometimes I have a "thing" against brown. But we did need to get some food in our systems for the last leg of our journey to Austin, so after waiting a moment ( the front desk was a bit overwhelmed) we were seated.

( I think our neighbor here had a thing against me taking photos!)

At this stage of our journey we had eaten plenty so I thought I'd just order a "little something" - little not a part of the lexicon here in Texas. Take a look at what we got:

So that's not only the free basket of bread and biscuits, but my catfish, rice, corn, black eyed peas and RetroRoadhusband's mammoth omelet with side of bacon. My stomach groans at the sheer quantity of food! It was filling, for sure, but I did feel bad that I had to leave so much of it on the plate, as it would not fit in ma belly.

I was able to waddle out to the parking lot and snap a photo of this cantilevered creation of a building and that's when I noticed the cool neon running across the front.

Always good to know of a 24 hour restaurant on a road trip - and if your definition of good food includes  "Lots Of It", the Dot is the place for you!
