Do you ever get sick of hearing yourself say "I want to go to..." because you keep on saying it but you never go to the place? That is what it was like for me and Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.
For YEARS people have been telling me to go there, I've been telling myself to go there, but for whatever lame reason, months/years would pass and I didn't go. See? Mod Betty isn't perfect!
But I took a bit of my own Carpe Diem advice and finally planned the trip, and went, and had a marvelous time.
The Wellsboro Diner
19 Main St, Wellsboro, PA 16901
built by the Sterling diner company in 1938
And the best darned sticky bun I have ever had. Seriously. Ever.
The Arcadia Theatre
50 Main St, Wellsboro, PA 16901

Built in 1921, renovated in the 1990s, alas 4 screens, but look at that marquee!
The Penn-Wells Hotel
62 Main St, Wellsboro, PA 16901

Built in 1869 and an Historic Hotel of America, we did not stay here (next time!) but loved the vintage signage and vibe both inside and out:
Love this "Auto Entrance" Neon Sign:
Talk about a step back in time!
Dunham's Department Store
45 Main St, Wellsboro, PA 16901

Speaking of stepping back in time, how about shopping on Main Street at one of the last remaining family-owned and operated independent department stores in the US!
They sell all sorts of current things, I almost bought a Fiestaware butter dish (mine broke!) but it was the wrong size for my cupboard. If I did get it I would've insisted it go in one of these swell bags!
Don't delay, go to Wellsboro yourself!
