Mod Betty loves it when she can send folks to an authentic vintage eatery just moments off of the highway - and the Red Rooster in Brewster NY is close to two! Just a little over 2 miles from Interstate 84 AND 684 you can get tasty food, soft serve ice cream, play miniature golf AND avoid the chains.
And, hello - look at how cute this place is!
Candy stripes on the A-frame roof, matching the sharp looking uniforms on the folks working at this roadside icon, open since 1962.
Mod B - inspired by the twisty cone atop the pointed roof - had a soft serve ice cream, but was eyeing the fried chicken the gent behind her in the tiny 2 seat booth was devouring.
Had we had more time to spare, the miniature golf course was appealing in it's authentic charm - replete with windmill and classic characters atop the fake grass links.
Open every day of the year except for Christmas, make your meal stop memorable on your drive instead of foraging for forgettable fast food:-)
